The match began cautiously, each of the teams feeling their way slowly: the scoreline 2 - 0.
The second quarter was played at a faster pace with short passes the hallmark of the opposition. The score was now 4-1 to them. In the third quarter we started to pile on the pressure and to fight more aggressively for the ball. There were some fantastic lines of passing from Kathy, Libby and Dolores in defence into the shooting circle and at last we started to play more confidently. The score looked healthy at 8 - 4. The final quarter was the most exciting for both teams as more confident passing from Kasey and Maria was enabling shooters Emily and Beth to get the ball smoothly into the net. The score drew close to 8 - 5 and it all started to look very promising! Unfortunately for us the Denstone shooters were scoring at a more rapid rate and there was a real battle for possession throughout. The final score was Denstone 16, Yarlet 9. |
