Sport at Yarlet |

![]() ![]() ![]() With a games session scheduled every day, sport plays an important part in the Yarlet curriculum and whether a natural athlete or not, each child is encouraged to participate in the variety of seasonal sports activities that are timetabled. In doing so, pupils become more aware of working together as a team and supporting each other, of competitiveness and fair play and, of course, staying fit and healthy.
Sports enjoyed by our boys and girls include: cricket, football, rugby, netball, hockey, athletics, basketball, rounders, gymnastics, cross-country, swimming and tennis. Our facilities, most of which are within sight of the Headmaster's Study, include a sports hall, football and cricket pitches, an all-weather pitch, netball and tennis courts and a heated swimming pool. Expert tuition and daily coaching lessons have achieved a high level of sporting success, including representatives at county level. However, pupils who have not previously enjoyed sport are encouraged to participate and their enthusiasm develops as their skills improve and they realise that sport, at whatever level, can be fun. Parents are invited to our annual sports day and swimming gala, which is a wonderful occasion for parents, pupils and staff, and is a lovely way to round-off the academic year. Sport is not restricted to Main School pupils; the 3-7 year olds have a games session 4 days per week (and swimming and tennis in the summer) - and they love it! |
