"Oh to be in England now that Spring is here..."  Wishful thinking indeed, as Games One and Two have spent the majority of the first half of term resembling hunting packs of huskies, trekking across the frozen, arctic waste lands of north Staffordshire!  We have managed, as tradition dictates, to play games of some description every single day.  The Firsts and Under 11s deserve huge credit for their boundless enthusiasm, which has resulted in enthralling matches against Foremarke and Birchfield.  At home, against a large Foremarke team, the Firsts played superbly, tackling with the bludgeoning force of several snowploughs.  With three minutes to go we were leading thanks to two Alex Holt tries and the spirit of inspirational Captain, Felix Tubbs.  Alas, we were pipped at the post, but what a match!  Against Birchfield, our Firsts were far too powerful for their opposition, racking up 50 points.  Messrs Davidson, Sherratt and Bramall scored tries, with the metronomic Alex Holt scoring 5!  Tougher matches to follow!  More plasing was the Under 11 win at Birchfield with an inexperienced side.  Captain Fearless himself, Charlie Friend, displayed the ferocity of an MP defending his expenses claims, as we won 22 - 7.  Josh Malyon 2, Ed Hall and Sebastian Somervail scoring the tries that gave us victory.  Again, tougher matches to follow, but what a start!
