Yarlet girls are playing in some 18 competitive matches this term and are certainly relishing the challenge as they achieve considerable success, both at home and away. Here are a few highlights.  U13 Netball v Lichfield Won 22 - 10 Burntwood Leisure Centre was the venue for our match against Lichfield this year, a welcome change from a cold and windy car park! Both teams started well with fast pace passes and accurate shooting. 4 - 3 to Yarlet after the first quarter. We worked hard to maintain our lead with great interceptions from Olivia and Jamie and skilful shots from Hattie and Leona. 11 - 7 to us. In the third quarter the girls really shone with incredible passing in attack and clever defending. The Lichfield shooters didn't get even one chance to score. Hattie and Leona had a purple patch with shot after shot sailing in from all distances. Amazing! Now we had a great lead 16 - 7. Yarlet did not let up the pressure and despite a small flurry of goals from the opposition we went on to win comfortably 22 - 10. Particularly impressive was the confident passing from Jessica to Molly and into the circle. Completely astounding was the domination of the court by Goal Defence, Olivia Omilana, who virtually snuffed out all attempts by Lichfield to cross into the attacking third. Abi was an able assistant in some magnificent defending. India played her part, too, grappling determinedly for the ball. Under 11s Netball v Old Hall, Won 12 - 0 By the time the Under 11s began to play it was very cold and it was a good job they were wrapped up warmly! Yarlet dominated the game, moving quickly around the court and passing swiftly and accurately. Old Hall tried to get near the ball, failing miserably thanks to excellent spaces found by Kathy and Beth and superb passes between Antonia and Emma. Maria and Hetta proved to be a solid defence. Beth and Emily seemed to contstantly have the ball and had many chances at scoring, most of which they took calmly and confidently, amassing a huge 6 in the first half. Beth and Sophie equalled this score after half time, making the final score 12 goals to nil. Keep up the great team work girls! Under 10s Netball v Old Hall, Drew 3 - 3 A splendid match! The Old Hall are Yarlet's toughest netballing rivals and always prove to be stiff opposition. All Yarlet girls played well. Some slick passing between Kasey, Emily, Helena and Libby and great interceptions by Hetta and Fionnuala meant that Yarlet had most of the possession. Emily and Lolly were in superb attacking form and the score could have been higher. They managed just one goal in the first half, as did Old Hall. In the second half Old Hall hit back, making the score 3 goals to 1. With time running out, the girls doubled their efforts, Sophie and Amelia worked hard on the wings, pushing the ball to Lolly and Emily, who managed a goal each to make the scores level.
