Aim:

The Learning Support Department is here to support any children who may require help at any time during their education at Yarlet.

The department:

Our dedicated Learning Support Department is based in the Main School building, and is fully equipped with all appropriate special learning resources. There is regular communication between the Learning Support Department, all subject teachers and specialist teachers at the Dyslexia Institute.
What we do:

From Year 1, all children throughout the School are screened during the Autumn Term, in English and Maths, for learning difficulties.

However, if concerns arise at a later date, a child may be referred to the department at any time.

All children requiring individual help are withdrawn for either one-to-one, or joint support teaching; or will receive support within the classroom.

The children and relevant staff are actively involved in the setting of targets.  These are incorporated into their individual learning plan.  The work of the Learning Support Department is reinforced throughout the school.
Partnership:

The work of the department is very much a partnership with parents.  Teachers are always happy to answer any queries parents may have as they, and we, encourage, motivate and support their children.
