Vive la francais!

Yarlet pupils in Forms 7 and 8 enjoyed a five day visit to Ouistreham, Normandy, organised by Mrs Millington and supported by a number of past and present parents. The pupils enjoyed amazing weather, which allowed several trips to the beach, as well as much productive work as pupils put their French to the test. The days were long and very full, starting at 7 am and ending at 11 pm. Visits included the Bayeux Tapestry, Cabourg market, Falaise Castle, a fresco workshop at Musee Archeologique de Vieux la Romaine, where pupils were able to create and decorate their own tiles, to be displayed at the Open Morning, and to the aquarium at Trouville.

Pupils were well received by the local people and their behaviour was exemplary - we were very proud of them all. This interaction gave many opportunities for pupils to practice their French - ordering their own lunch, purchasing goods from the local market, and getting to know the area. Much fun was had by us all, too, and, following a sumptuous three course supper, pupils enjoyed relaxing in the cafe at Ouistreham during the evenings and, also, playing ten pin bowling.

After five incredibly busy days and a long journey home, pupils arrived back to Yarlet in the early hours of Saturday morning, 25 September, very tired but very happy!
