Form 3 Trip to Chester 2011

DSCF2192Form 3 stepped back in time when we visited Roman Chester.  We spent some time in a workshop where we worked as archaeologists to sort items into different groups, built hypocausts and bath houses and did some Roman cooking.  We even smelt some garum, a paste made from rotten fish!  Archie made a fearsome legionary, demonstrating all the weapons and armour worn by Roman soldiers.  After lunch we met Gaius Feronius, an optio in the XX legion, who took us around the town and told us more about Deva’s history.  Edward, Duncan and Amelia were very brave to show us how Roman toilets worked!  We finished our day with some time in the galleries, where we worked in pairs to discover more about Roman times from gravestones and models.

Well done Form 3!
